Ruiners — Terms of Use
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Ruiners mobile and web application and services (the “Service”), operated by Invisible LLC (“we,” “us”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.
1. Who can use Ruiners
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to use the Service. If you use Ruiners on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind it to these Terms.
2. Your account
You’re responsible for your account and for keeping your credentials secure. Enable the security features we offer (such as two-factor authentication) where available. Tell us promptly at support@ruiners.org if you suspect unauthorized use. You’re responsible for activity under your account.
3. Your content
You keep ownership of the maps, places, descriptions, comments, replies, photos, and other content you create (“Your Content”). You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, and display Your Content solely to operate the Service — including showing it to the members of the maps you choose to share it with. You’re responsible for Your Content and represent that you have the rights to post it and that it doesn’t violate these Terms or the law.
Maps in Ruiners are invite-only by default: content you add to a map is visible only to the members you or a map admin have invited. A map’s owner or admin may also mark a map public, which makes that map’s places and comments readable by any signed-in user who has its link until it is made private again. Only choose “public” for content you’re comfortable sharing that broadly.
4. Acceptable use — zero tolerance for objectionable content
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior on Ruiners. You agree not to post, share, or transmit content, and not to behave, in any way that:
- is unlawful, or promotes or facilitates illegal activity;
- harasses, bullies, threatens, defames, or intimidates any person;
- is hateful or discriminatory based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation, age, or any protected characteristic;
- is sexually explicit or exploits or endangers minors in any way;
- depicts or incites violence, self-harm, or cruelty;
- is fraudulent, deceptive, spam, or infringes anyone’s intellectual-property or privacy rights;
- contains malware, or attempts to breach, disrupt, or reverse-engineer the Service.
You also agree not to impersonate others or misuse the invite, reporting, or collaboration features.
5. License to use the app
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable license to use the Service. You may not sell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service, or use it in violation of these Terms or applicable law.
6. Reporting, moderation, and enforcement
We want Ruiners to stay respectful. If you see objectionable content or abusive behavior:
- Report it in the app. Every place description, comment, and reply has a Report action that flags it to the map’s owner and admins, who can remove the content and remove the responsible member. You can also leave a map at any time, and — if you contact us at support@ruiners.org — escalate to us directly.
- Map owners and admins can remove any member from a map and delete content on their map at any time.
We may review reported content and act on objectionable-content reports within 24 hours — removing content and/or suspending or terminating the responsible account. We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms, with or without notice.
7. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from within the app (Profile → Delete account). We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service or its users. Some content you contributed to maps shared with others may remain in those maps after your account is deleted, as described in the Privacy Policy.
8. Third-party services
Ruiners uses third-party services — including Google Maps Platform for maps, places, and directions — and your use of those features is also subject to the applicable third party’s terms. We’re not responsible for third-party services.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We don’t warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that place data, directions, or user content are accurate.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Invisible LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or USD $50.
11. App Store terms
If you downloaded Ruiners from the Apple App Store, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies, and these Terms are between you and Invisible LLC — not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the Service or its content, and Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms with the right to enforce them against you.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes take effect on the new effective date and, where appropriate, with in-app notice. Continued use means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
